The Magos Hungarian folk music band is one of the brightest upcoming stars of the Hungarian folk music scene. The group plays authentic Hungarian music, also called Táncház music, from the Carpathian basin which includes Hungary, Transylvania and part of Slovakia. These young musicians were able to learn from the great master of folk music who lived and preserved folk music for decades. Now it is their generation’s turn to keep the authentic folk music alive and to pass it on. Magos may perform in an archaic style, but it is part of the thriving and vibrant world of folk music in Hungary. This energetic, youthful and exciting band comes directly from the Budapest Táncház scene. Winners of the 2011 Budapest FOLKBEATS talent search competition; they are on tour in North America for the first time. The April 29 concert will be followed by a Táncház, a traditional dance party with live music by Magos. The Concert Begins at 3 PM, doors open at 2:15 PM. Email mahovlich@core.com or call 216-281-8727 to make your reservations.
