Kapossy Radio interview on WCPN 90.3FM 7-8 p.m. today, 5/22

Two of our leaders, Matyi Tábor and Krisztina Nádas, talk about our summer research tour on today’s Kapossy Radio Hour, 7-8 p.m. this evening on WCPN 90.3 FM.

From Andrea and Bandi Lázár, hosts of the Kapossy Radio Hour:

A nyári körút -The Regös are getting ready to embark on their upcoming ethnographic trip to Hungary – a huge undertaking that needs the community’s support.

Listen to their leaders Matyi Tábor and Krisztina Nádas tonight at 7 pm on the Kapossy Radio program on WCPN 90.3fm as they explain their extenisve plans and talk about this remarkable trip/ a nyári körút. (If you can’t listen live, see below)

These remarkable dedicated young people are not only living our Hungarian heritage but they continue to add to our knowledge about our customs. All by ‘kids’ none of whom were born there as they are second or third generation – all the more remarkable!

They are the future, they are the ‘hagyomány örzök”/the tradition-keepers for the Cleveland Hungarian community.

Regös leaders and members – 31 in total – will spend 3 weeks in July visiting villages in Hungary, Serbia and Romania.
Their goal – to learn from the source the village dances and music, learn customs and make lasting friendship with the people as they fully immerse themselves in the life in the villages.
Their reward – to come back enriched with their experiences, with new knowledge of their cultural heritage to be incorporated into their group’s current and future programs, and to pass this knowledge on to the future members of the Ensemble.
AND – they will enrich the lives of all of us in the Cleveland Hungarian community as they share with us all that they’ve learned.

Let’s give them our support! Help fund this remarkable trip with whatever you can afford –

2016 Research Tour / 2016 nyári körút

2016 korut logoWe are excited to announce that the Cleveland Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble is preparing to tour Hungary and the regions of Serbia and Romania known respectively as Délvidék and Erdély this upcoming summer. While the tour will certainly provide the Ensemble with opportunities to dance (which is its passion), the focus of the trip is to gather ever more authentic traditional folk material to incorporate into its repertoire for future performances.

Such a big trip incurs many expenses, and we would appreciate any financial support our patrons can provide. Please use the PayPal button below to make a tax-deductible donation via credit card, or send your check to American Hungarian Friends of Scouting, P.O. Box 6783, Cleveland, OH 44101. Please make sure to include “2016 Körút” in the memo line! Thank you!

More information…
